Portfolio: Connections, An Experiment
This portfolio summarizes the work done for an independent study in my fourth year of my Bachelors of Architecture program at Cal Poly. It starts with the replication of an existing piece of hardware, then adapts the hardware to function in a piece of furniture. Finally, a connection is designed from scratch to work with off-the-shelf materials to assemble an installation.
These investigations resulted in a deeper understanding of the manufacturing process, and connections. Ultimately it provides the opportunity to gain a DFM (design for manufacturing) perspective, which will aid with my future design endeavors.
