The Notebook Directory
I don't remember exactly where I read it, or maybe heard it, but I remember that in 2013 I started carrying a sky blue lined-page notebook in my school uniform dress shirt pocket. Since that day I continue to carry a notebook with me, jotting down ideas, taking notes in classes, and ripping out a page to give someone a number or email, the notebook has become part of who I am.
This page is dedicated to these notebooks, below you will find an archive of what every notebook looks like, the dates that I used it, and a spread just to see what's inside.
During this time of using pocket notebooks, I've literally gone around the world in search of the most suitable ones. I've tried every brand I could find, every type of paper, and every type of cover. I now have a very specific set of criteria that I look for in every notebook that I purchase.
Notebook Criteria:
- Size: ~A6 (105 x 148.5 mm / 4.1 x 5.8 inches)
- Paper: Blank (preferred) or Dotted
- Cover: Soft (hardcovers don't fit in pockets and take a lot of damage)
- Accessories: Closing mechanism (an elastic band, or magnet, or whatever)
- Design: I like something relatively unique
My Favorite Notebook So Far:
So far, after almost 10 years, this has been my favorite notebook. It checks every box I need; great paper quality, blank pages, good size, open flat, very unique binding, lovely design, well crafted, and honestly quite hard to find where I am. I think I first picked one up when I was on a trip to Canada, I forget which city I was in (maybe Ottawa) when I walked into a stationary store and found this notebook. Since that day it has been the standard I hold every notebook to, and I've yet to find something I liked more.
If you have a suggestion let me know, I'm always looking for new notebooks to use.
